The formulae for distance between two points is as follows
Let the two points be A (x1,y1) and B (x2,y2)
Draw two perpendiculars AP and BQ from point A and B respectively.
From A a perpendicular AR is drawn onto BQ
Then OP will be x1 and OQ will be x2
The distance between P and Q will be given by OQ-OP=x2-x1
QR=y1 and QB is y2
Then the distance between R an B will be QB-QR=y2-y1
When we confided the right angled triangle ABR
By Pythagorean theorem we get AB²=AR²+RB²
AB²=(x2-x1)²+(y2-y1)²
AB=√(x2-x1)²+(y2-y1)²
