And,

(x-y)^2=x^2-2xy+y^2 --------(2),

By adding equation (1) and (2),

We will get,

2(x^2+y^2)=\frac{(x+y)^2+(x-y)^2}{2}

\implies x^2+y^2=\frac{(x+y)^2+(x-y)^2}{2}
