If there's an arbitrary quadratic equation in one variable !

ax^2 + bx + c = 0

Then the formula to find the discriminant of this equation is b^2 - 4ac

D = b² - 4ac

D = discriminant

a = coefficient of x²

b = coefficient of x

c = constant term
