Step-by-step explanation:

Let the side of the rectangles be a and b and let the diagonal be d,

By Pythagoras theorem , we have:

a²+b²= d²

=> d= √a²+b²

Thus is the formula to calculate the diagonal of rectangle √a²+b²

Now, in the square each side are equal so we can take each side as P

Now putting a and b as P in above formula we get the formula to calculate the diagonal of square that is ,

d= √s²+s²=√2s²=s√2
