Given :- what is the fourth proportional of 0.006,1.2 and 6/25 ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, fourth proportion of given numbers is x .

Than, we can say that,

→ 0.006 : 1.2 : : (6/25) : x

we know that,

  • if a : b : : c : d , than, The product of the means equals the product of the extremes.
  • a * d = b * c

So,

→ 0.006 : 1.2 : : (6/25) : x

→ 0.006 * x = 1.2 * (6/25)

→ (6x/1000) = (72/250)

cross - multiply,

→ 6x * 250 = 72 * 1000

dividing both sides by 6,

→ 250x = 12 * 1000

dividing both sides by 250 now,

→ x = 12 * 4

→ x = 48 (Ans.)

Hence, fourth proportional of 0.006, 1.2 and (6/25) is 48.
