CFC states chlorofluorocarbons
Harmful effects are:
First, it destroys the ozone layer, which blocks dangerous UV (ultra-violet) radiation. Without the ozone layer, the level of UV radiation hitting the Earth would be enough to basically sterilize the surface, killing almost all life. This is the reason why CFCs were banned.

In addition, CFC are extremely powerful greenhouse gases, and contribute to global warming.

Both effects are extremely hazardous to life on Earth.
