AIIMS and JIPMER are both Institutes of National importance. They are the best institutes in India. JIPMER have only two campuses one at Puducherry other at Karaikal whereas AIIMS is expanding with over 10 campuses. For comparison, JIPMER Puducherry can be compared to AIIMS Delhi.

Looking at this question and at similar questions, I have always wondered why someone would ask this. Has he cracked both entrances and is confused about which college to choose? Has he done his undergraduate course in one of the colleges and is wondering whether he should do his post graduation in the other?
And then I realized, in most cases, the questions are just asked by random, curious people. The majority of the answers are by people who have not studied in either of the institutions. Hence, the answers are hilarious. They are mostly posted from some random website on the internet.
There is no government website that states which amongst the two colleges is better. Even MCI does not state.
If I'm asked which amongst the two colleges is better, I would be diplomatic here. I'm a JIPMERite who loves her college. But I also know AIIMS, Delhi is an equally good medical college.
How do you judge a medical college? By their clinical exposure? By their infrastructure? By their teaching faculty? Or by their student performance in future as doctors?
In terms of clinical exposure, JIPMER has a huge diversity of cases. Name it, and you'll find it in the clinics sometime or the other. I'm sure AIIMS does too.
Infrastructure wise, we have a beautiful campus, with a top class hostel facility, super-speciality hospital, women and child health care hospital, OPD block, Emergency services and the General Hospital. I'm sure AIIMS does too. I believe AIIMS allows girls to enter the boys hostel, but how do you consider that to be an advantage over JIPMER?
The faculty are all experienced doctors who've been in this field for years. I am sure that is the case with AIIMS too.
And,lastly,about how JIPMERites and AIIMSonians perform in future, is upto the patients to decide :)
Students in both colleges receive excellent education, clinical exposure and opportunities.
I would not compare the two.
True, AIIMS Delhi has a better location and is more widely known, because of its location as well as the fact that well known politicians are being treated there.
But in terms of education and quality of doctors, I see no reason to compare them.
I, as a JIPMERite, love my college, but I respect AIIMS too! And, maybe in future, I would like to do my post graduation there.
