The word SEBC stands for :- Socially and educationally backward classes.
This term was introduced for the people who are backward but do not belong to the SCs (Scheduled Castes) or STs(Scheduled Tribes)
Mandal Commission (which was headed by BP Mandal) was asked to gather information about theses sections from all over India.
The new term for SEBC is OBC (Other Backward Classes)
