VLC media player (also known as VLC) is a free and open source media player and multimedia framework developed by the VideoLAN project. VideoLAN is a project non-profit organization, composed of volunteers, developing and promoting free, open-source multimedia solutions. It originally developed two programs for media streaming, VideoLAN Client (VLC) and VideoLAN Server (VLS), later the features of VLS have been incorporated into VLC and renamed VLC media player.
