Galvanometer :

The instrument which detect and indicates an electric current is called as galvanometer.

Functions of Galvanometer :

Galvanometer detects the electric current in a circuit. It is used in circuits to measure the electric current.

  • When the current flowing through the circuit is zero, the pointer of the galvanometer will also be at zero.
  • A wire coil id connected to a galvanometer.
  • The galvanometer needle deflects in in one direction when the magnet is pushed towards the centre of a coil.
  • Galvanometer is connected with the circuit in series.
  • Galvanometer is used for measuring the magnitude in a circuit.
  • The diagram of galvanometer is given in attachment.
