                                    Adrenal Gland

⇒ Situated at the top of kidney.

⇒ Also known as 3 F that is Fear, Fight and Flight.

⇒ It has two part 1. Cortex  2. Medulla.

⇒ Cortex secretes Mineralocorticoid, glucocorticoid, and sex hormones.

⇒ Important mineralcorticoid hormone is aldosterone.

⇒ It maintains electrolyte balance in body and distribution of water to the tissue .

⇒ It increase re-absorption of Na⁺ and Cl⁻ ions by kidney tubule and excretion of K⁺ ions.

⇒ Hyposecretion - Addison's disease.

⇒ Hypersecretion - Conn's disease, irritation in nervous tissue.

⇒ Important glucocorticiod hormone is corticosterone.

Glucocorticoids increase in take of glucose by liver cell and striped muscles.

Hyposecretion Fall in blood glucose, low body temperature, decrease in efficiency of brain , liver and cardiac muscle.

Hypersecretion Cushing's disease ( irregular deposition of fat ).

⇒ Sex hormone Virilism ( in female ) Gynacomestia ( in male ).

⇒ Both hormone deficiency produce feminine characters in both male and female.

⇒ Medulla secretes nor-epinephrine and epinephrine.

⇒ Both hormone regulates heart beats, blood pressure and contraction of blood and contraction of involuntary muscle of lungs.
