The ear is the first part of the body to come in contact with auditory stimuli. Sound waves must pass over the auricle before entering the ear canal.

Auricles are segmented pouches if atria in the human heart . Auricles have thin walls and act as receiving rooms for the blood while the ventricles below act as pumps, moving the blood away from the heart.
