The foremost function of digestive enzymes is to breakdown larger food materials into smaller food particles so that helps in absorption of food particles

These enzymes are secreted by parts of digestive tract

The food materials are very complex in nature. Digestive enzymes such as, amylase, lipase, pepsin, Trypsin etc  help to break these complex molecules into smaller molecules so that they can be absorbed by the walls of small intestine.
