Both the cardiac and pyloric glandssecrete mucus, which coats thestomach and protects it from self-digestion by helping to dilute acids and enzymes. The intermediate gastric glands produce most of the digestive substances secreted by the stomach.

the gastric gland in the stomach releases gastric juices which digest the food which is in the form of chyme... (chyme is the condition in which the carbohydrates and protiens in the food are half broken) gastric juices produced by gastric glands are acidic in nature
