The gastric glands are present in the wall of the stomach.
Functions of gastric glands:
1. SECRETION OF HCl- The gastric gland releases hydrochloric acid which creates an acidic medium for the functioning of protein-digesting enzyme pepsin.
2. SECRETION OF PEPSIN- It releases a protein-digesting enzyme called pepsin that helps in the breakdown of the protein.
3. SECRETION OF MUCUS- It releases mucus which protects the inner lining of the stomach from the action of the acid under normal condition.
