Answer:

The job of the Golgi apparatus is to process and bundle macromolecules like proteins and lipids as they are synthesized within the cell. The Golgi apparatus is sometimes compared to a post office inside the cell since one major function is to modify, sort, and package proteins to be secreted.

Answer:

  • Golgi apparatus is the secretory organelle of cell. The proteins, lipids, steroids and some other substances pass from endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. The Golgi apparatus modifies and packages these biochemical into tiny membrane-bound secretory vesicles. These secretory vesicles then pass out from Golgi Apparatus to various parts of the cell or outside the cell through exocytosis. Examples of some of these secretory products are mucus, sweat, proteins, saliva, tears etc.
  • It helps in the storage, modification and packaging of secretory products.
  • It helps in the formation of call plate and call well in plants, plasma membrane and lysosomes during cell division.
  • It is involved in modification and malnutrition of acrosome (special structure at the top of the sperm).
  • Complex sugars can be made from simple sugars in Golgi apparatus in some cases.
