Kidneys are the primary excretory organs throwing out excretory products(urea) in the form of urine.

Each Kidney tubule has the following parts -

1) Bowman's capsule : It is a thin walled cup (single - thick epithelium) cup.

The bowman's capsule and glomerulus together known as Malpighian capsule or just renal capsule.

2) Proximal or first convoluted tubule (PCT) Both Bowman's capsule and proximal convoluted part lie in the cortex.

3) loop of henle (Middle U - shaped part) :

It is in shape of hair pin, it is not convoluted.

It runs in medulla to turn back and to re enter the cortex to continue the next convoluted region of the tubule.

Activity - some absorption of water and sodium ions.

4) Distal convoluted tubule : It opens into a collecting duct. The collecting duct receives the content of many kidney tubules and pours it as urine in the pelvis of the kidney.
