What is the function of hepatic portal system? Why a Hepatic portal vein is said to start with capillaries and end in capillaries?​

⭕ Hepatic portal vein carries deoxygenated blood from gastrointestinal tract, gall bladder, pancreas and spleen to liver.

⭕ It carries nutrient rich blood to liver which is further processed there and returned back to the heart via inferior vena cava.
