HELLO THERE!

In simple words, Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is an enzyme that catalyses the conversion of lactate to pyruvate. This step is convenient during production of energy in the cells. The heart, liver, kidney, are all rich in this enzyme. LDH converts NAD⁺ to NADH, and also converts the vice versa.

The enzyme plays a vital role in Glycotic metabolism. For example, the intermediate dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) is a source of the glycerol that combines with fatty acids to form fat. Glycolysis is an oxygen—independent metabolic pathway. The wide occurrence of glycolysis indicates that it is an ancient metabolic pathway.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Thanks...
