The function of the left atrium is to pass oxygenated blood from the pulmonary veins into the left ventricle.
The function of the atrium is to force the last bit of blood into the main pumping chamber (ventricle) before the power stroke to increase the efficiency of pumping.
The function of the left atrium is to receive blood from the right and left pulmonary veins and conduct that blood into the left ventricle.
