the functions of some of the gastric juices are:-

mucus:- it protect the inner lining of stomach by the action of HCL

hydrochloric acid:- 1:- the pepsin work in the presence of acidic medium so          the HCL provides acidic medium to facilitate the action of pepsin

2:- it kills the pathogen{disease causing microbes} which enter with food

pepsin:- it break down the protein into simpler one.it acts as a enzymes
