According to Newlands' law of octaves when the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic weights then every eighth element has properties similar to that of the first element. Elements with similar chemical properties are to be present along a horizontal row.

Newland used the function of musical notes like sa,re,ga,ma,pa,da,ni or do,re,mi,fa,so,la,ti which was used in western side.Newland with the help of musical notes wants to prove that the properties of first element is similar to the eighth element and arranged them in the increase of atomic mass with the help of these notes.But the only problem was this was applicable upto calcium.
