what is the function of nissl's granule
Answers
Answer:
Basically, Nissl granules are nothing but Rough Endoplasmic reticulum (ER with ribosobe on it) present in the soma of neurons. With the functional state of neuron, it’s number, size and arrangement alter. It also helps to undergo chromatolysis in a fatigued or injured neuron. It may also represent as a reserve of food materials (Da Fano 1923). It can be histologically stained with differenet dyes or stains like Cresyl Violet, Toludine blue etc. In summary the neuronal state can be evaluated with the status of these granules either in different metabolic states of the neurons or in disease condition.
