It has a double layered membrane known as nuclear membrane which has several pores known as nuclear pores that help to transport substances inside and outside the cytoplasm. The nucleus also has a round shaped object inside it which is known as nucleolus. It also has rod shaped chromosomes which are visible during cell division. These chromosomes contain DNA which forms genes. The nucleus plays a crucial role cellular reproduction and determines the growth and maturity of the cell.
