What is the function of polypeptides in dna?

The proteins present in DNA have different structures which are followed by their specific functions.
In the same way they contain the polypeptides chains which are amino acids connected to each other as in a chain.
Thus such polypeptide chains serve to provide protien to the structure as well as to itself...
