pyloric sphincter remains tight closing the opening of stomach into the duodenum. it prevents half churned chyme from entering the small intestine.
even when it opens in lets the chyme pass onto the duodenum slowly so that the chyme may be thoroughly mixed with bile to neutralize it's acidity
