Function of region of maturation:
- There is a zone in the plant cell where newly grown plants cells mature and become elongated.
- Actually plants have apical meristematic tissue in their root and the shoot apex.
- Now, these cells divide very fast. As a result the cells grow in all dimensions in this zone of maturation.
- The volume to surface area ratio of the cell is increased in this zone of maturation.
- Also, it is in this phase that the cells become rich in nuclear materials like chromatins.
- The cells becomes ready for the next cell division.
