RESPIRATORY SYSTEM IN HUMANS

  • Nostril → Air enters and exits the system, also humidifies and filters air
  • Oral cavity → Air enters and exits the system
  • Pharynx → Passageway that connects the oral/nasal cavity to the respiratory tract
  • Larynx → Connects the pharynx to the trachea and keeps foods and drinks out of the airway, also is our voice box
  • Trachea → Windpipe through which air moves
  • Carina → “fork in the road” of the trachea
  • Bronchi → Passageways for air into the lungs
  • Lungs → Where gas exchange occurs with Alveoli
  • Diaphragm → Muscle that aids in breathing
