the rhizobium bacteria is the bacteria which is food in the roots of leguminous plant. they live in symbiosis. the plant provide food and shelter to the bacteria, in turn the bacteria provides the plant ammonia which they convert from nitrogen.

as you know , the plants can't use the nitrogen present in air directly, the rhizobium bacteria help to convert nitrogen into ammonium and mix in the soil. the plant can use it and can grow. the ammonium is used in growth of plant.

not only in plants , but in human also, our body system can consume air nitrogen as for growth , but the use protein ,which is a form of ammonium.
