Saliva , which is released from the three pairs of salivary glands function to —

=>lubricate the food we ingest and coverting into a soft and slippery bolus to allow smooth transport into stomach via oesophagus.

=>It also helps in little digestion as it contains Ptyalin enzyme for starch.

=>It lubricates the oral cavity and this serves important role in speech.

The saliva is produced by salivary gland in mouth. The enzymes found in saliva are essential in the beginning the process of digestion. These enzymes also help in breaking down food particles.It helps in swallowing the food.
