We all know about process called photosynthesis in which plants convert sunlight into usable energy. During this process, carbon dioxide is taken in from the atmosphere through the stomata and oxygen is released as a waste product. In the Greek language "Stomata" means "mouth" . Basically Stomata are microscopic openings on the surfaces of plant leaves that allow easy transfer of water vapor, carbon dioxide and oxygen.
