Each testis contains many seminiferous tubules lined by germinal epithelial cells. These cells undergo the process of spermatogenesis ( the process of sperm formation ) to produce male germ cells called is sperm( spermatozoa ).Testes keep on forming sperms throughout the reproductive phase in a male .About 300 million sperms are produced everyday. Between the seminiferous tubules are numerous microscopic intestinal cells known as Leydig cells . The leydig cells produce the male sex hormone called a testosterone. The main functions of testosterone are the formation of sperms and the development of male secondary sex characteristics.
