Blood groups are classified according to the sugars present on the surface of Red Blood Cells, which is based on the antigens and antibodies present in blood. Rh factor is another reason  for classification. If it is present then it is categorised as Rh positive,  if absent,  Rh negative.

Blood with

A antigen,  anti B antibody is A blood group.

B antigen,  anti A antibody is B blood group

A and B antigen, no antibody is AB blood group

No antigen,  anti A and anti B antibody is O blood group.

If Rh factor is present then  +

If Rh factor is absent then  -  and blood contains Rh antibodies which can react with Rh factor and cause clumping if accidentally + blood is given to a patient with -  blood.
