The tubular part of a nephron has the following functions:

  • Glomerular filtration of water and solutes from the blood. This process of filtration separates the wastes from the blood.
  • Reabsorption of the water and other important substances into the blood.
  • Ions secretion and waste products from the surrounding 'capillaries' into the distal tube.

EXPLANATION:

The nephron is responsible for filtering the blood. The nephron consists of Bowman’s capsule, glomerulus, proximal convoluted tube, Loop of Henle and distal tube all of which have specific roles to play in excretion of wastes from the body.
