Function of Xylem Fibers:

The vascular system of the plant is composed of two components namely xylem and phloem.

The xylem is in turn classified as:

  • Xylem vessels
  • Xylem tracheids
  • Xylem fibers
  • Xylem parenchyma

Among the four components xylem fibers have different functions. They are composed of dead cell and provide support to the water conducting tissues. Those fibers which are alive are used for storage once they get matured.
