⏩The microtubules are cylindrical tubes, 20-25nm in diameter formed from globular tubulin molecules.

⏩The microtubules perform the following functions⤵

(i)They help in maintaining cell shape.

(ii)They are involved along with microfilaments in cell movements.

(iii)Microtubules participate in intracellular transport. Microtubules play an important role in movement of organelles, e.g. movement of chromosomes. In such cells where microtubules are disrupted with chemicals like colchicines, no movement of chromosomes occur.
