In the 21st century, there remains no doubt that humans consider themselves to be superior to any other living organism in the world, be it physically, intellectually or spiritually. And so, humans have destroyed the natural habitats of wild animals for their selfish needs. It is as if to say,"So those animals are out there in the wild...but we are the actual controllers." On the face of it, wild animals are being hunted on a large scale by poachers for their hide that goes into making elite fur coats, ivory articles and what not! As for a layman, they become the source of entertainment in a wildlife sanctuary or a zoo but are the potential threats when spotted in the vicinity of a village. However, we tend to overlook the fact that they keep the food chain under check and unknowingly constantly strive to maintain the ecological balance. As for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers, the case might be a bit different but again, they are very few in number. To top it all, the general attitude shows the least bit of concern or compassion towards these wonders of nature and also that we believe that they are merely tools at our disposal who can be experimented on and thrown out at our beck and call.
