The general name for all early humans was hominids. It was from the hominids that the species Homo sapiens, Homo habilis and Homo erectus have evolved.

EXPLANATION:

The hominids developed and evolved over the several years and developed unique characteristics. Homo habilis learnt to make and use simple tools.

Homo erectus was the species that migrated from one place to another and also controlled fire. Home sapiens is the only species left while the other got extinct. Home sapiens refers to all human beings in general.
