To solve sin(2x) = – 1

Firstly you decide WHEN sine can equal – 1



The basic angle is 270 degrees but you can add any number of 360 degrees and the sine will still be – 1



So if sin(2x) = – 1

Then 2x can be 270 or 630 or 990 …

We generally write this as 2x = 270 + 360n where n is any integer

Now we divide by 2 so that x = 135 + 180n

This is the general solution in degrees.
