GPU means graphic processing unit.. it is a dedicated hardware device.to acceleraye the building of images in a frame intended for output to a display..

GPUs are located in plugin card..

Graphics processing unit (GPU) is a special card in the computer that processes the graphical tasks.

Your computer can have both integrated graphics and is GPU in that case if you don't need a GPU to handle what you are doing at that moment, than your integrated graphics will take over to save power. GPU has special ram called VRAM.
