Answer:

Beer has been theorized to be the discovery that started civilization. This idea seems crazy, but it makes sense. Imagine a nomadic human stumbling into a patch of fermenting wild grapes or grain. He is hungry and eats the rotten food. He begins to feel drunk, and he enjoys the feeling. It inspires him to abandon the nomadic life and stay in that place. Each day he make improvements, he helps the plants spread into a larger area, he cultivates the crop and finds ways to make it last through the hungry seasons. He begins to make bread, and the bread is used to make .

There are a number of inventions from wheel to electricity, from computers to internet and etc. etc. influences the humanity drastically. But in current perspective I would say that the invention of X-Ray crystallography technique is the one of the major invention of recent generation which influences every field of discovery and speed up the basic research. Thats why till date Lawrence Bragg is the youngest Nobel Laureate, having received the award at the age of 25 for his work on X-ray crystallography famously known as Bragg law of X-ray diffraction.

In its first decades of use, this method determined the size of atoms, the lengths and types of chemical bonds, and the atomic-scale differences among various materials, especially minerals and alloys. The method also revealed the structure and function of many biological molecules, including vitamins, drugs, proteins and nucleic acids such as DNA. X-ray crystallography is still the chief method for characterizing the atomic structure of new materials and in discerning materials that appear similar by other experiments. X-ray crystal structures can also account for unusual electronic or elastic properties of a material, shed light on chemical interactions and processes, or serve as the basis for designing pharmaceuticals against diseases.
