Jamal measured the length of the walkway as 15.5 meters, we have to find the the greatest possible error.

Since the measurements are not exact, measurements are always made to the "nearest something". The greatest possible error when measuring is considered to be one half of that measuring unit.

Since the measurement was made to the nearest tenth, the greatest possible error will be half of one tenth, or 0.05.

So, the greatest possible error is 0.05 meters.
