What is the greatest remainder one can get on dividing an EVEN number by 4?
Answers
Given,
The dividend = Any even number
The divisor = 4
To find,
The greatest value of the remainder.
Solution,
We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.
For this we can take example of four consecutive even numbers.
Like - 10,12,14,18
First division remainder 10÷4 » 2
second division remainder 12÷4 » 0
third division remainder 14÷4 » 2
fourth division remainder 16÷4 » 0
So, only two remainders are possible 2 or 0.
This is applicable for all the even numbers. If one even number is giving zero remainder then the consecutive next even number will give 4 as remainder, the third consecutive even number will give 0 again as remainder. This will go on.
Greatest remainder = 2
Hence, the greatest possible remainder will be 2.
