In context to questions asked

We have to determine the value of HCF of 14 and 16

As we know that

HCF of two or more numbers is that particular number which is highest common factor of the given number.

So for determining the HCF of 14 and 16 we will use prime factorisation method

So prime factorisation of 14 and 16 will be

14 = 2 \times 7 \\ 16 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \\ hcf = 2 \: common \: numbers

Hence HCF of 14 and 16 will be 2

To find : HCF of 14 and 16 .

Solution :

  • HCF is the highest common factor also called as greatest common divisor ,( GCD ).
  • To find HCF of 14 and 16 we find prime factors of these numbers .
  • Prime factors are:
  • Prime factors of 14 =2\times 7
  • Prime factors of 16 = 2\times 2\times2\times 2

                                       = 2^{4}

  • HCF of 14 and 16 = 2

Hence , HCF of  14 and 16  is 2 .

Hence , HCF of 32,64 and 256 is 32.
