let a =72.b=48.
72 =48*1+22
let a=48 and b=22
48 =22*2+4.
let a=22 b=4
22=4*5+2
let a =4 b=2
4=2*2+0.
therefore remainder we get zero by value of b Is 2.
so 2 will be hcf of 48 and 72.
