a)The HCF of 2 consecutive numbers is the product of the numbers.

Suppose x and y are 2 consecutive numbers.
Their HCF will be xy.

It is EVEN.

Example:

The HCF of 2 and 3 is 6,which is the product of 2 and 3.

b) The HCF of 2 consecutive even numbers is half of it's product.

Suppose x and y are 2 consecutive even numbers.
Then their HCF is xy/2.

It is EVEN.

Example:

The HCF of 2 and 4 is 4 which is half of their product i.e.
