Because, prime numbers are the ones who have 1 and only the number itself as factors.

And HCF is the higest common factor.

So, as between two prime numbers there is only one common factor, which is 1,

the answer will always be one. For example,

2=1×2. 3=1×3

As these prime numbers have only 1 as common factor, so their HCF is also 1.
