Heliophytes are common on open terrain, rocks, meadows or at mountains and on grasslands or on other long sunny exposure areas.

The adaptations may be noted here as:-

1) Coarse tiny leaves.

2) Hairy and waxy protection against excessive light radiation and water loss by transpiration.

3) Leaves have double palisade layers.

4) Chloroplasts have carotenoids.

4) Leaves and shoot have stomata. The shoots are green.

The most common examples of Heliophytes are some mint and most roses,etc.
