What is the highest and lowest total resistance that can be secured by
combinations of four coils of resistance 4 ohm,8 ohm,12 ohm and 24 ohm?​

highest resistance can be obtained by connecting the four coils in series . then R=R1+R2+R3+R4

R=4+8+12+24=48 ohm

lowest resistance can be obtained by connecting the four coils in parallel.

then

 \frac{1}{r }  =  \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{1}{8}  +  \frac{1}{12}  +  \frac{1}{24}  =  \frac{12}{24}  \\ 2ohm
