What is the hybridisation of C atoms in CH4

There's a trick, though - thehybridization of the centralcarbon atom (or heteroatom) is equal to one less than the number of bonded groups. So since CH4 has four H's (four groups) on its centralcarbon atom, it's sp3hybridized and takes a tetrahedral shape.
